Hey I’m Alice...

The artist behind the prints and homeware.

I started Alice Herring when my son was born as a way to work creatively from home. Before I began Alice Herring, I spent over fifteen years working as a fabric buyer and textile artist within costume departments of the film industry. As a new mum, film life wasn’t as easy any more.

Working in film has taught me to look closely, to notice atmosphere, age, texture and emotion. This way of seeing continues to shape all my work and fosters my love of story telling. As a textile artist I work with colour every day and I love considering the relationship between hues and the emotional response they evoke in my prints and patterns.

Most of my work is inspired by the flora on my doorstep and the charm of the English countryside.

I believe our homes should welcome us, reflect who we are and become the backdrop to the memories we make with family and friends. The objects we choose to live with shape how our homes feel—and for that, they deserve to be beautiful.

My homewares are printed on natural cloth and proudly made here in the UK.
